Deacons At The Edges (D.A.T.E)

Deacons at the Edges is a new outreach ministry. The program involves  the congregation in supporting the ministry to community members;  from making a meal for a family, sending notes of encouragement - or just visiting and listening... "Deacons at the Edges " are ready to serve. Church community members fill out info cards suggesting how someone might help a person they know who is in need. This goes into a notebook and the Deacon of the Week picks out cards they are comfortable with completing. Anyone from church can sign up to be a deacon of the week.  Cards that are checked as confidential go directly to the pastor.

Deacons at the Edges goes to Prepared to Serve Feb. 16, 2008. Last year we showed the NH  Conference a glimpse into our Living the Promise church school and this year we are sharing more of our sensational work with Pizzazz!

WANTED: A Few Great Acolytes!

One of our key values here at the Dunbarton Congregational Church is the inclusion of children into the faith life of our community, and one of the most significant ways in which children can share their gifts is by serving as acolytes, participating in the processional, bringing the light of Jesus Christ into our worship by lighting the candles at the front of the sanctuary. Although not required, acolytes also often serve as children’s readers, reciting an age-appropriate version of the weekly psalm just prior to the children’s story.

Any child who is a member of the church school (i.e. currently in grades one through six) is eligible to serve!

Please contact me if you would like further information. I can be reached at home (774-4693), my office (606-5004), or by e-mail (nholmes@nkms.com).
